Yamaha XS650 | The Trakker
This bike came in as a pretty mint 1980 Yamaha XS650 Special. In its current state, I’d say it is a sight to behold. I really wanted to incorporate as much ‘moto’ as possible in this build, which is why you will see that it features YZ250 front suspension, billet trees, Pro Taper bars, and motocross controls.
The simpler, the better. It is unmistakably aimed to be a flattracker as well, with 19” wheels front & rear, as well as a fresh set of Dunlop DT3’s to complete the look. Now, this machine is teetering on the edge of even being street-legal, which is just the way I like it. As a garage builder, I can do things that larger companies, and OEM outfits cannot - push the envelope with Johnny Law. This bike has seen its equal share of street hooliganism, as much as offroad enthusiasm.
